    Ok, I loaded the save and it does not crash when the scenario ends. So it seems that it's local to your machine.. Man, I wish I knew what would cause that.. It sounds like it's a widespread issue on your game though if you said it was happening in other scenarios. Just wish you had something in your log that would give us a clue.. hmm.. Maybe try a complete re-install of the game.

    Is it possible to reinstall the game over the current one without losing my saves and mod data? Or will I have to reinstall everything?

    Even so, even with the technical issues, it's still one of my favorite scenarios. Great job! I only wish I had the technical know-how to try my hand at scenario creation. But data script reads like Cantonese to me.

    Sorry. I suffer from a serious case of typosis. Don't worry, it's not contagious :)

    Yes, if you re-install the game, it will keep your Work folder so you won't lose save data. The mod directory, you'd have to backup.

    Thanks for the kind words, glad you enjoy them. If you want to learn how to create scenarios, download the SDK and start studying the SDK manual. It's how I learned, and there's also plenty of people on the forum to help. :)

    Thanks Slow Trot. As luck would have it, there's nothing in your log that would give me a clue as to why it's crashing.. :(

    I've combed through the battlescript and there's nothing going on 30-45 seconds in that would cause a crash. In fact, no commands are given again until 10 minutes into the scenario..

    It's possible that you could be experiencing a bug where if the regiments are VERY small, it causes the game to freeze (something fixed in the upcoming patch). But even with this bug, the game freezes.. It doesn't crash like you describe.

    Now I'd like to try and reproduce your crash. Turn on autosave and see if you can get me a save game a little before it crashes. Please zip the save game file and send it to: matt at norbsoftdev dot com

    Also, there's a slight chance your game doesn't like the way the scenario.csv is setup. It's setup slightly different than your usual scenario.. I'll work on it and re-upload.. Just trying to rule everything out.

    Yeah, I noticed that as I've been trying to improve the scenario.csv. The numbers were off for one of the army's which caused that.. It hasn't caused any crashes to myself or anyone else, but it's definitely something I'll be fixing. And I might just get lucky and it'll fix Slow Trot's issue! Also checking the other scenario.csv's for any issues and will upload shortly. Thanks RebBugler.

    Slow Trot - The issues in the OOBs could very well be what was causing it to crash for you. Please download the new zip, overwrite your files, and let me know if it crashes or not.

  • Sorry for the delay in responding. I went away for the weekend. I've downloaded the new zip and I'm happy to report that the scenario now works fine!

    Once again, thank you for making this. I've finished the third, and can't wait to play out the final battle. I have less than 1100 troops left. The poor 2nd South Carolina is down to 67 men. They took a beating holding on to the wheat field in the third scenario. Great stuff.

    I'm working on a Corps size carryover series.. Definitely some serious carnage with that many troops.. :evil:

    But for those that don't like the BIG battles, I'll probably do another brigade size as well.

    Finished this series tonight. All MV's and had 754 men left. Scores were 2121, 4684, 3654 and 1591. All I could do was stare at that last VP. Just didn't have enough left in the tank. I was kind of sad to see most of my brigade scattered all over the ground. I really like carryovers and I think these are the best I've played yet. That's so much for all your work on these.

    You must be talking about the North Houck's Ridge OBJ. It is set for 5 minutes. If you can hold it for 5 minutes, the final OBJ (and hardest) will appear. I'm not sure how it showed you 4 minutes on the map. I'll have to try that out.

  • Just wanted to mention; there has been an interesting discussion on the Wheatfield battle going on at MHO. I was trying to get some thoughts from the experts on why Ayres Union division didn't completely pulverize the rebels when he attacked near the end of the fighting. This portion of the battle is depicted in the final scenario of my series. There were several interesting responses, but this one sums it up the best:

    Quite apart from the notorious discussions about Sickles, might we reflect on Longstreet's claim that this battle witnessed the "best three hours of fighting ever done by any troops on any battlefield" ?

    This might be the crux of it all...the rebel infantry that attacked in that sector was at the apogee of its wartime effectiveness : well armed, highly motivated,with excellent morale and led by inspirational commanders at all levels. Those Southern soldiers were skillful and turned their advantage to lethal account.
